چکیده
Abstract Multi‐rotor floating wind turbines are among the innovative technologies proposed in last decade effort to reduce cost of energy. These systems able offer advantages terms smaller blades deployed offshore, cheaper operations, fewer installations, and sharing platform. As blade‐pitch actuation system is prone failures, assessment associated load scenarios commonly required. Load fault has only been performed for single‐rotor solutions. In this work, we address effect faults emergency shutdown on dynamics loads a two‐rotor turbine. The concept considered employs two NREL 5‐MW baseline OO‐Star semi‐submersible investigated blade blockage runaway, that is, seizure at given pitch angle uncontrolled one blades, respectively. Blade‐pitch lead significant increase structural system, especially runaway conditions. Emergency significantly excites platform motion, tower‐bottom bending moment, tower torsional loads, while suppressing faulty flapwise moment after short peak. Shutdown delay between rotors increases maxima acting tower. Comparison with data from spar‐type study show great similarity, highlighting not affected by (1) type used (2) multi‐rotor deployment.

The purpose of this paper is to show an exemplary methodology for the integrated conceptioning of a floating wind turbine system with focus on the spar-type hull and the wind turbine blade-pitch-to-feather controller. It is a special interest to use a standard controller, which is easily implementable, even at early design stages. The optimization of the system is done with adapted static and d...
متن کاملDamping Wind and Wave Loads on a Floating Wind Turbine
Offshore wind energy capitalizes on the higher and less turbulent wind speeds at sea. To enable deployment of wind turbines in deep-water locations, structures are being explored, where wind turbines are placed on a floating platform. This combined structure presents a new control problem, due to the partly unconstrained movement of the platform and ocean wave excitation. If this additional com...
متن کاملPredictive Analysis of Wind Turbine Faults: a Data Mining Approach
Wind industry is expanding rapidly to meet the current energy challenges. The expansion in quantity and size of the wind turbines will also increase the operation and maintenance (O&M) cost. Monitoring the performance of wind turbines can reduce the O&M cost. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system records various wind turbine parameters that can be analyzed for performance moni...
